Berkeley Youth Living with Disabilities (BUiLD), an innovative agency and residence for young people with disabilities, is featuring Lisa Rothman’s hilarious one-woman show “Date Night at Pet Emergency” at its upcoming benefit.  Lisa’s show is about having a child with special needs (and two rescue dogs) and celebrates the professionals who support families like hers.  Lisa says, “While my son’s neurological disorder is relatively minor compared to the challenges faced by the families that Berkeley Youth Living with Disabilities serves, I am grateful to all the people who helped our son learn to walk and talk and feel privileged to be able to give back in this way.”  The show is directed by David Ford (SF Chronicle’s Theater MVP).

About the show: Ever since Baby #2 hit the scene, Lisa and Kevin have been fighting over sippy cups, fruit salad, and impenetrable origami instructions.  Now Kevin is storming around the emergency pet clinic, ranting about the vet bill. How could they have foreseen this? Who ever heard of a dog overdosing on antibiotics?! Lisa isn’t sure what to do. All she knows is that this has got to be the worst date night ever!

This event is made possible through the generous support of Kaiser Permanente East Bay.  The show contains adult language and content.  To request disability accommodations, contact Racquel Robinson at Build at least 10 days in advance at 510.845.2744  or buildbenefit@gmail.com
